" Working and Visiting with FDNC is a great experience for me. I have been wishing to have a place where I can learn various things and interact with friends. My dream has come to a reality with this facility and I hope that many Children and Youth will come here to learn and share with each other.

Internships and Volunteer Opportunities
FDNC regularly hosts volunteers and interns, typically for one to six months, from the United States,
Europe, and Uganda. Some of our volunteers have been placed through American Jewish
World Service (AJWS). Follow the above link to learn about their application process and selection criteria.
Alternatively, placement can be arranged directly through FDNC, if certain criteria are met.
The objective of the internship program is threefold:
- To provide a framework by which students and professionals from diverse academic backgrounds may be
assigned to FDNC programs where their educational experience and professional skills can be enhanced through
practical work assignments.
- To expose volunteers/interns to the work of FDNC and thereby serve as contacts for its programs. Ongoing
collaboration and/or longer assignments may lead to consideration for potential employment.
- To provide FDNC programs with the assistance of highly qualified students and professionals specialized
in various fields.
We are happy to find living arrangements for our volunteers/interns, either in Mbale Town or in Natondome Village. Living expenses in the area are very reasonable. Volunteers/interns are expected to work full-time (9:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday), and do so under the supervision of the assigned staff member.
Past volunteers/interns have worked in the areas of: organizational development, leadership development, marketing and communications, finance and budget, health, nutrition, vocational education, sustainable agriculture, arts and crafts, and building construction, among others.
Please contact us to learn more about volunteer and/or internship opportunities.
