Volunteer & Employment Opportunities
FDNC hosts and works both local and international volunteers and interns and has its successful history and lessons gathered of hosting international individuals and groups. FDNC is strengthening this program now with clear policies to realize mutual benefits and its effective continuity.
We aim to have a mutually beneficial program to create more local beneficiaries as progress towards sustainable human development is only possible through empowerment of locals that charge minimal fees. This program aims to cultivate future leaders and social entrepreneurs and most importantly, the emphasis should be on how bringing together talented local and international interns with grass roots development efforts can deliver better services to those most in need.
Benefits to Volunteers and Interns (Students).
We help you to gain valuable, hands-on international development work experience. The Programme will help you to understand the complexity, challenges, and constraints with regard to sustainable development and community transformation issues and poverty reduction initiatives in Uganda. It provides an opportunity to compare principles with practice and enables participants to increase their experience. Volunteers and interns will not only contribute to socio-economic development of Uganda, but also to their personal and professional development. You may work either within the NGO's and public institutions' offices or in rural and urban communities in supporting local projects
This type of initiative fits well with FDNC’s VISION and MISSION. It is also within FDNC’s focus to share ideas and practical support where individuals, grassroots organizations can form joint collaborations to empower and inspire global understanding about impoverished communities and effective Community Transformation
The Local and International Volunteer/ Internship Program is a completely grass-roots program that plays a pivotal role in a broader local NGO empowerment strategy i.e. tailored to the needs of FDNC and other individual NGO’s and local communities.
After the recent restructuring at FDNC, this program is still in the conceptual phase, and many important questions remain to be answered. Marketing and attracting foreign interns would involve significant efforts by the organization and its current and former volunteers to harness their professional and social networks.
FDNC has a already partnered and continued to build capacity in other local NGOs.
Our volunteer Programme aims to enable volunteers and interns:
- To create and enhance awareness of the linkages between sustainable development, community transformation and poverty alleviation;
- To allow interns and volunteers to be equipped with the knowledge, values and skills that may enable them to participate in global actions towards solutions to sustainable development/ community transformation problems and issues;
- To increase knowledge and understanding of the major challenges and prospects for community transformation and poverty reduction in Uganda;
- To increase understanding of our global interdependence in relation to the environment, natural and local resources and communities.
